Wibi Soerjadi

On 8 August 2026 pianist Wibi Soerjadi will perform a garden concert at Villa Peckedam in Diepenheim. The Netherlands-trained pianist of Indonesian descent is deeply at home in the Romantic repertoire. In this outdoor recital, works by Liszt, Chopin, Rachmaninoff and Schumann stand alongside his own compositions and piano transcriptions of orchestral themes. In doing so he sets the grand gestures of the 19th century against more compact pieces bearing his own musical signature.

Since the late 1980s Soerjadi has built a broad career on Dutch stages and has regularly worked with orchestras, but here he chooses to perform solo: one grand piano, one voice. The programme moves between lyrical pages and rhythmically tense passages, allowing room for contrast and clearly articulated lines. In the garden setting it draws close to the essence of piano playing: acoustic, direct and without detours, with the repertoire at the centre and the intimacy of an open-air recital.
