Arkells bring their tight, melodic rock to The Palace Theatre in Calgary on May 22, 2026. Formed in mid-2000s Hamilton, the five-piece built its identity on choral hooks, guitars with a clean bite and a fondness for keys and brass accents, all carried by Max Kerman’s upfront vocals. The set leans into the band’s range: the punch of Jackson Square, the more open, synth-kissed turn of Michigan Left and High Noon, the pop-forward Rally Cry cuts, and the stripped, song-first writing of Laundry Pile. Blink Once and Blink Twice added collaborations and new textures; on stage, those tracks slot in next to earlier anthems without losing the band’s narrative edge.

Live, Arkells balance momentum and detail. Campfire Chords proved they can pare back to essentials; in concert, those quieter moments thread between choruses built to be sung together, with rhythm section and keyboards holding a steady, danceable pulse. It’s rock that speaks in everyday scenes, framed for a room to answer back, and played as a collective effort rather than a pose.
