Info
Father John Misty, the songwriting alias of Joshua Tillman, plays MTELUS in Montréal on July 1, 2026. After early solo work as J. Tillman and a stint as the drummer for Fleet Foxes, he reframed his music under this name, mixing folk foundations with indie rock and orchestral pop. The project took shape in Los Angeles with Fear Fun (2012), where psychedelic touches and story‑driven songs set the tone. I Love You, Honeybear (2015) and Pure Comedy (2017) expanded that blend with long-form ballads, chamber pop arrangements and electric detours. God’s Favorite Customer (2018) tightened the writing, while Chloë and the Next 20th Century (2022) leaned toward mid‑20th‑century crooner influences and classic popular song.
On stage, Father John Misty appears with a full band or, at times, with orchestral formations, moving between clubs, concert halls and major festivals. Alongside his own catalog, Tillman writes and collaborates within the indie and pop sphere, keeping Father John Misty as the core of his songwriting. At MTELUS, 59 Rue Sainte‑Catherine Est, the show draws across these eras, shifting from stripped-down folk to wider, more arranged passages.
