Info

Scandinavian Heavy Arts Tour lands at Théâtre Beanfield in Montréal on April 22, 2026, uniting Soen and Dark Tranquillity, with Persefone joining for a bill that moves between progressive weight, melodic tension and atmospheric passages.

Soen, formed in Stockholm by drummer Martin Lopez and singer Joel Ekelöf, works a progressive metal where clear vocals, layered guitars and shifting meters carry the songs. From Cognitive to Tellurian and Lykaia, the band sharpened its writing, then opened up with Lotus and Imperial, balancing heavy grooves and more spacious arrangements. Memorial pushed this concise approach, while Atlantis revisited catalog tracks in an intimate setting. On stage, Soen focuses on dynamics and nuance, with vocals framed by textured riffs and keys.

Dark Tranquillity, founded in Gothenburg in 1989, is closely linked to the city’s melodic death metal sound: harmonized guitars, harsh vocals, keyboards and a persistent sense of contrast. Early albums such as Skydancer and The Gallery set the tone; Projector, Haven and Damage Done added introspective colors and electronics. Character and Fiction refined the balance between speed and melody, extended on We Are the Void, Construct, Atoma and Moment around Mikael Stanne’s voice.

From Andorra, Persefone brings a progressive death metal built on long forms, marked tempo shifts and a dialogue between growls and clean vocals. Core and Shin-Ken explored myth and Japanese imagery; Spiritual Migration, Aathma and Metanoia deepened the atmospheric side with keyboards and instrumental interludes.
