Info

NewDad bring their foggy, melodic indie rock to Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on May 4, 2026. Formed in Galway, the quartet of singer-guitarist Julie Dawson, bassist Áindle O’Beirn, guitarist Sean O’Dowd and drummer Fiachra Parslow sits somewhere between dream pop, alternative rock and shoegaze. Early self-released tracks led to two EPs, Waves (2021) and Banshee (2022), sketching out grainy yet weightless guitars, a steady, unfussy rhythm section and lyrics that look at relationships, anxiety and disillusion. Madra, their 2024 debut album, broadens the palette while keeping that balance of tension and drift that runs through Dawson’s writing.

Opening is Manchester’s Freak Slug, the project of Xenya Genovese. Trained in fine arts and self-taught in music, she builds a multidisciplinary world where voice, visuals and narrative move together. After Videos (2021) with the track Radio, she followed with I’m In Love (2022) and Viva La Vulva (2023), then expanded her scope on the 2024 long-format I Blow Out Big Candles. Recent years have taken her from the screen to the stage, from SXSW to UK festivals, with songs that fold indie pop confessionals into internet-age collage and body-aware storytelling.
