Le Vent du Nord

Le Vent du Nord carries Quebec’s francophone folk with a direct, grounded energy. Formed in the early 2000s, the group digs into rural and maritime sources and folds them into sets where call-and-response songs, reels, laments and original pieces sit side by side. Fiddle, hurdy-gurdy, accordion, guitar and jaw harp interlace with tight vocal harmonies; foot percussion drives the groove and keeps the dance at the center. The band performs as a quartet or quintet, with singers doubling on instruments and arrangements built to let the melody breathe and the rhythm speak.

Rooted in the North American folk scene, Le Vent du Nord has toured widely across Canada, the United States and Europe, and often joins collective projects around Québécois heritage and the broader North American francophonie. They also collaborate at times with other folk groups or with chamber and orchestral formations to create new works or revisit traditional repertoire.
