Chicago’s The Academy Is... bring the Almost Here 20th Anniversary Tour to Danforth Music Hall in Toronto on April 11, 2026. Fronted by William Beckett with guitarist Mike Carden, the band emerged from the early‑2000s Chicago scene, blending emo and pop‑punk with clear, melodic guitars and vocal‑driven hooks. Their debut Almost Here (2005) set the blueprint, followed by Santi (2007), which leaned into a denser, slightly darker tone, and Fast Times at Barrington High (2008), with a brighter power‑pop streak. An EP in 2009 closed the first era before a hiatus.
Since 2015, The Academy Is... have regrouped for select shows, and this tour marks two decades of the record that introduced them. On stage, their songs swing between urgent rockers and slower burners, tracing late‑teen and twenty‑something snapshots without losing the directness that made them stick. A chance to reconnect with the band’s early catalog and a snapshot of the mid‑2000s alternative scene, revisited live by the lineup at its core.
