Lou Trotignon « Mérou »

Lou Trotignon presents Mérou at the Théâtre Sébastopol in Lille on October 11, 2026. On stage, they start from a simple idea: if the grouper changes sex during its life, why couldn’t a human change gender? Assigned female at birth, Lou explains how that box doesn’t fit them. The show unfolds a transition story that stays close to lived experience: testosterone injections, a striptease, the encounter with the queer world, and a series of questions that touch on the body and the intimate. Who has the right to say what we are? Are we obliged to remain what we were told to be? Can we reinvent our bodies, our relationship to love and to others?

Between self-mockery and personal testimony, Lou maps out the stages, doubts, joys and clumsinesses that accompany this shift. Mérou becomes for Lou a storytelling ground where one singular story resonates with other trajectories, delivered with direct humour and a clear voice. A stand-up that sets down signposts without an instruction manual, leaving space to listen, to recognize oneself, or to shift perspective.
