Nous étions une armée

Nous étions une armée is a French duo that moves beyond conventional boxes: a voice that speaks, intones and sings, carried by taut guitars and stubborn drum machines. Their writing plays with chiaroscuro, balancing fragility and tension, with lyrics that remain close to the real. Their debut album, mais le ciel est sublime, released in October 2025, condenses this aesthetic: electric washes, metronomic grooves, suspended melodies and a spoken‑sung delivery that flirts with chanson, post‑punk and poetry.

On stage, the material is built in layers: the voice gains depth, the guitars tighten, the rhythmic drive insists, then the whole opens up again, like a breath. After two sold‑out dates at Point Éphémère and La Maroquinerie, the duo continues its trajectory and will play La Cigale in Paris on 28 November 2026. There, the album’s tracks take on a different grain—rougher, with textures that rub against the venue and words that reconfigure in contact with the audience.
