Info

George Dalaras, a Greek singer, was born on 29 September 1949 in Piraeus, Greece. The son of rembetiko singer Loukas Daralas, he grew up in a musical environment that marked the beginning of his career. Rembetiko, also known as the "Greek blues," is a musical tradition that emerged in Greece’s port and working-class neighborhoods in the early 20th century. This genre reflects Greek popular music and tells stories of life, dreams, joys and sorrows through its lyrics and melodies. In his program, George Dalaras offers a journey through rembetiko. Through his interpretation, he presents a repertoire that blends the melancholy of the past with the energy of the present. With his voice and traditional instruments, he brings the nuances of this repertoire back to life.
