She casts her precise, playful eye over supermarket self-checkout lanes, the craze for self-help books, the instability of romantic relationships, and the shifts in language. Without judgment, she dissects the world around us, turning it into everyday scenes in which anyone can recognize themselves, and projects a simple, direct energy.
With clear writing and a keen sense of detail, Anne Roumanoff assembles observations, characters, and situations to tell the story of an era in motion. She explores today’s contradictions, awkwardnesses, and good instincts, getting straight to the point while leaving room for nuance.
