At the Cité de l’architecture et du patrimoine – Palais de Chaillot in Paris, on 22 October 2025, the exhibition turns back to 1925 and to those who gave flesh to Art Deco. Le Corbusier, Auguste Perret, Henri Sauvage and Robert Mallet‑Stevens are at the heart of the display, each illustrating a different response to the nascent modernity: exposed concrete and legible structures with Perret; a focus on hygiene and comfort with Sauvage; crisp lines and urban scenography with Mallet‑Stevens; and a constructive manifesto and free plan with Le Corbusier. Under the impetus of Charles Plumet, their pavilions for the International Exposition set architecture, the city and vegetation in dialogue. The proposed reconstruction recontextualizes these gestures through a virtual model and contemporary archives. It repositions the buildings, routes and ideas to trace closely how these architects conceived forms, materials and uses. An Art Deco garden reawakens the connection to nature and the ambitions for a more flexible urbanism. From pavilion to pavilion, visitors rediscover the circulation of influences and the rupture points that mark the transition to a modern language, between ornament, technique and lived space.
