I almost titled this show 'Pleasure.' And then I decided that the only pleasures one might think of in front of a title like that would be pleasures forbidden to anyone under 18. Yet, for financial reasons, I want people under 18 to be able to attend my show as well. So I named it 'Delicious': it's a family show.
In one hour and twenty minutes, I will try to untangle the complexity of what provokes pleasure in human beings. Of course, pleasure can come from a glass of Sancerre we linger over on the banks of the Seine in spring. But it can also be triggered by the death of someone we don’t love. Of course, an unexpected promotion within the company can bring joy. But also the act of eating Camembert in Camembert, or knowing that you don’t pronounce the 'z' in Avoriaz (which lets you feel superior to all those who don’t know it).
My aim is that this show provokes in you a certain pleasure, in a mise en abyme as delicious as eating Camembert in Camembert.
David Castello-Lopes will be on the stage of the Opéra de Limoges on October 6, 2027 at 6:30 p.m.
