Info
On November 7, 2027, The Drifters land at Scarborough Spa in Scarborough for a night built around one of the most influential vocal-group songbooks in American pop and soul. Born in New York in 1953, the group started out in doo-wop and R&B before opening up to smoother soul and more orchestrated pop, a shift that helped define the sound of an era.
The Drifters’ story is famously shaped by changing lineups, from the early years around Clyde McPhatter to later key voices like Ben E. King, Rudy Lewis and Johnny Moore. That constant evolution is part of what makes their catalog so rich: gospel-rooted R&B, sharp songwriting, and the kind of arrangements that still hit hard live. Expect the classics that turned them into staples on both sides of the Atlantic, from There Goes My Baby and Save the Last Dance for Me to Up on the Roof and Under the Boardwalk.
