ROLE MODEL draws as much attention as it does because Tucker Pillsbury writes the way people talk, without beating around the bush. Beginning in rap, he quickly settled into an indie pop sound with bedroom-pop DNA, driven by smooth melodies and pared-down arrangements. Since ‚Arizona in the Summer‘, followed by ‚Oh, How Perfect‘ and ‚Our Little Angel‘, he continues in the same vein: relationships that go off the rails, loneliness, mental health, all with a chorus hook that sticks in your head. With ‚Rx‘, he broadened the sound without losing that confessional tone, and ‚Kansas Anymore‘ takes him toward a more acoustic, slightly folk-influenced pop, with discreet country touches. On February 11, 2027 at the Tempodrom in Berlin, ‚Chuck On Tour‘ promises an intimate concert in songwriting, but envisioned to fill a large venue.
Opening, Keni Titus brings indie-alt pop that is both raw and precise, nourished by this in-between of adolescence and the transition to adulthood. Her way of weaving vulnerability, self-deprecation and honesty has sharpened on ‚Mud on My Superstars‘ and ‚Juliet‘, before taking on another dimension with ‚AngelPink‘. On stage, she keeps this direct, unvarnished tone, which sits well with the new indie-pop writing.
