Brad Mehldau arrives at Lieu Unique in Nantes on February 10, 2027, for a concert centered on what defines his mark: a jazz piano approach that is open, curious, and continually in motion. Emerging in the 1990s, notably alongside Joshua Redman, he established himself with his trio recordings, from Introducing Brad Mehldau to The Art of the Trio, where writing and improvisation interlock and continually propel one another. For him, standards intersect with his own compositions and with covers drawn from rock and pop, digested without any overt nods: everything flows through a sense of counterpoint, a clear lyricism, and a highly rhythmic way of breaking and reassembling the flow. At the same time, Mehldau cultivates solo piano and more orchestrated formats, while forging bridges between jazz, classical and the repertoire of popular music. An evening to hear a musician who has a lot to tell, without ever overplaying.
