The Wombats land at Kelvingrove Bandstand in Glasgow on 12 August 2026 with the hooky indie rock that has defined their path since Liverpool, 2003. Matthew Murphy, Dan Haggis and Tord Øverland Knudsen formed the trio at LIPA and built a catalogue where sharp guitars, danceable basslines and synth-tinged textures meet a clear-eyed take on anxiety, love and everyday contradictions. From early cuts and the Japan-only Girls, Boys and Marsupials to A Guide to Love, Loss & Desperation, the band set a pace of tight, melodic songs. The sound widened across This Modern Glitch and Glitterbug, pushed into sleek, rhythmic pop on Beautiful People Will Ruin Your Life, then edged further with Fix Yourself, Not the World and Oh! The Ocean. On stage, they thread the line between nervy energy and polished electronics, moving from jerky riffs to pulsing keys without losing that immediate chorus sense.
