Thomas Dolby plays O2 City Hall Newcastle on 25 May 2026, tracing the path of a musician who has long linked pop songwriting and technology. Born in London and shaped by the early 80s new wave, he mixed synth-pop, funk, ambient shades and a cinematic sense of space on The Golden Age of Wireless and The Flat Earth. On stage he moves between vintage synths, sequencers and piano, revisiting She Blinded Me with Science and Hyperactive! alongside deep cuts and later tracks from Aliens Ate My Buick, Astronauts & Heretics and A Map of the Floating City. A collaborator and producer for Lene Lovich, Prefab Sprout, Joni Mitchell and David Bowie, he brings that studio instinct to his live arrangements, with focused grooves, clear harmonies and stories threaded between songs. Between records he has scored for screen and developed audio tech projects, a background that feeds the narrative edges and playful sound design of his concerts.
