Midge Ure

Midge Ure brings his synth-shaped songbook to Connexin Live, Hull, on 22 November 2026. Born near Glasgow, he first broke through with Slik and the Rich Kids before stepping into the new romantic moment with Visage, co-writing Fade to Grey. Joining Ultravox at the turn of the 80s, he helped steer the band toward a taut, melodic blend of synth-pop, post-punk and art rock, tied to singles like Vienna, Hymn and Dancing with Tears in My Eyes. Along the way he toured with Thin Lizzy and worked with Phil Lynott, notably on Yellow Pearl.

Solo, Ure has explored a more introspective register across The Gift, Answers to Nothing, Pure, Breathe, Move Me, 10, Fragile and Orchestrated, moving between full-band tours, acoustic formats and his Band Electronica projects. He also co-wrote and produced Do They Know It’s Christmas? and played a key role in Band Aid, Live Aid and Live 8. On stage here, expect a career-spanning set that threads Ultravox staples with solo cuts, balancing synth textures and guitar lines.
