China Crisis

China Crisis bring their finely drawn pop craft to Òran Mór in Glasgow on 12 December 2026. Formed on the outskirts of Liverpool at the turn of the 80s, the core duo of Gary Daly (vocals, keyboards) and Eddie Lundon (guitar, vocals) shaped a sound where supple basslines, melodic synths and clean, chiming guitars frame reflective songwriting. Emerging with African and White and the early albums Difficult Shapes & Passive Rhythms and Working with Fire and Steel, they moved toward a more polished, song‑forward approach on Flaunt the Imperfection, made with Steely Dan’s Walter Becker, and later What Price Paradise and Diary of a Hollow Horse.

On stage, the band leans into that blend of new wave, synth-pop and sophisti-pop, alternating between lean, atmospheric arrangements and fuller, groove-led passages. Daly’s warm phrasing and Lundon’s guitar lines carry the set, with hooks that unfold quietly rather than shout for attention. Expect a tour through the catalogue, from the wiry early material to later cuts and the more mature tones of Autumn in the Neighbourhood, played with the loose, conversational feel that suits their songs.
