NewDad

Galway’s NewDad bring their blend of indie rock, dream pop and shoegaze to Vancouver on May 19, 2026 at Hollywood Theatre, 3123 West Broadway. Fronted by singer-guitarist Julie Dawson with Áindle O’Beirn on bass, Sean O’Dowd on guitar and Fiachra Parslow on drums, the quartet crafts songs built on saturated yet airy guitars, a restrained rhythm section and melodies that lean into themes of relationships, anxiety and disillusion.

After early self-released tracks, NewDad defined their approach with the EP Waves (2021), then shifted toward a darker, more direct edge on Banshee (2022). Their debut album, Madra (2024), widens the palette without losing Dawson’s introspective writing or the group’s balance between pressure and release. On stage, the band draws from Madra and the earlier EPs, tracing a line from the first demos to the latest material.
