Info
Violinist, composer and singer Catherine Lara likes to push the boundaries between styles. With Identités, she places her violin back at the heart of the stage and mixes her themes—between personal compositions and nods to cinema—with a choreographic approach rooted in street culture. She presents this creation at the Théâtre Sébastopol in Lille on April 16, 2026, in direct dialogue with the Compagnie Kumo.
The Compagnie Kumo brings a dance born of breaking and hip‑hop: physical and precise, nourished by a strong sense of the collective. On stage, Lara’s bow answers the footwork, musical loops open up to colors drawn from world music, and together they build a shared language where rhythms, breaths and silences take turns.
Identités explores what shapes us today: each person’s place within the group, our relationship with social media, and our relations with others. Not a demonstration but a back-and‑forth between generations and aesthetics, where heritage and urban practices intersect. The show sits on the edge between concert and choreographic piece, and allows the encounter to do the work: music that moves forward, bodies that respond, and, at the center, a violin that traces the thread.
