Info
On 10 April 2027, Keziah Jones lays down his guitars at the Saline Royale of Arc-et-Senans for a concert where his blufunk is back in full force: an edgy blend of blues, funk, punk and Yoruba rhythms, powered by a guitar playing that is as precise as it is supple. Born Olufemi Sanyaolu in Nigeria, he was nurtured early on by the shadow of Fela Kuti, shaping his music between Lagos, London and Paris, like pop music open to detours and frictions.
Discovered in the 1990s with Blufunk Is a Fact, he followed with records that stretched the groove toward jazzier hues (African Space Craft, Liquid Sunshine), without losing that sense of a riff that hooks and the syncopation that makes you move. On stage, that’s where it all happens: a music without borders, direct, vibrant, that tells as much about today’s Africa as about its Western escapades.
An opening act will warm up the evening.
