Info
On 18 January 2027, Frazey Ford lands at The Glasshouse - International Centre for Music in Gateshead with a sound that sits right at the meeting point of folk songwriting and slow-burning soul. First known as a co-founder of The Be Good Tanyas, she’s kept that roots backbone while carving out a solo path where the groove matters as much as the lyrics.
Expect songs shaped by acoustic traditions but delivered with a supple, behind-the-beat vocal style, the kind that makes a simple line hit harder. From the hushed, folk-leaning mood of her debut Obadiah to the deeper R&B pulse of Indian Ocean, recorded in Memphis with players linked to the Hi Rhythm Section, Ford has been building a set that moves naturally between Americana warmth and muted rhythm-and-blues. Her more recent work, including U kin B the Sun, opens the palette without losing that intimate, lived-in feel. This show is for anyone who likes their melodies grounded and their soul understated.
