On April 4, 2027, The Damned bring their “Final Damnation 50” to the Commodore Ballroom in Vancouver, a night built around a band that’s spent decades mutating without losing its bite. Born out of London’s 1976 punk detonation, they were among the first to put the genre on record, then kept moving: raw early-speed, sharper post-punk angles, and a darker, theatrical streak that helped shape goth rock. Expect a set that can jump from straight-ahead classics to the more shadowy, melodic chapters that made their cult reputation last.
Mudhoney join the bill with their Seattle grit and sideways humor. Since 1988, Mark Arm and crew have worked the fault line between garage punk and early grunge: blown-out guitars, blunt grooves, hooks that sound like they’ve been dragged through an amp. From the era of “Touch Me I’m Sick” and Superfuzz Bigmuff to later records like Plastic Eternity, they’ve kept that dirty drive intact, perfect for warming up the room before The Damned take over.
