Between urgency and melancholy, Foxhole draws from punk rock and post-punk their most faithful weapons: tense guitars, taut basslines, and raw emotion. Cradled by the genre’s founding figures such as The Cure, The Clash, Joy Division, Les Thugs, and Ramones, and inspired by the contemporary scene (Home Front, Idles, Rotten Mind, French Films, and Syndrome 81), the band carves its own line: a sound that is at once raw and melodic, tense yet nuanced. Close to the DIY scene and the independent spirit, the four musicians remain attached to Clermont-Ferrand, this dark city, at once prison and paradise, that runs through their songs.
Founded by Ed and Jim, former members of Uncommonmenfrommars, Not Scientists established themselves on the indie scene with crystalline guitars, catchy melodies, and punk-derived energy. After a direct debut album (Destroy to Rebuild, 2015), followed by a more melodic turn with Golden Staples (2018), Not Scientists widened its sonic spectrum with Staring at the Sun (2023), produced by Santi Garcia, by incorporating keyboards and modern reverbs. In the wake of this, the lineup evolves with the arrival of Federico (ex-Pookies) on guitar, bringing a new dynamic and a renewed taste for infectious choruses. With Voices, the quartet continues this openness: a luminous record where clear guitars and experimentation cross paths, between contemporary indie rock influences (High Vis, Death Lens) and melodic roots.
