Info
On April 8, 2027, Madra Salach brings its Dublin-rooted folk energy to XOYO Birmingham in Birmingham, for a set that sits right between trad and present-day songwriting. Built as a band on stage first—pubs, small rooms, then bigger Irish festival crowds—they keep things direct: ballads, popular airs, and that tight, collective lift you get when the whole group pushes the tune forward together.
Formed in 2023 and now a sextet, Madra Salach works with the shapes and instruments of traditional Irish music, but treats them like living material rather than museum pieces. Expect narrative songs with a contemporary edge, a sense of melody that sticks, and arrangements designed for the room. With tracks like “Blue & Gold” and “I Was Just A Boy” and the 2026 EP It’s a Hell of an Age, the show also feels like a step toward what’s next, with their first album Gorta announced for 2027.
