On April 17, 2027, Keziah Jones sets up his amps at the Carré des Docks in Le Havre, Normandy, for a concert that puts blufunk back at the heart of the scene. Behind this term he has shaped lies his unique way of twisting blues, funk, and a touch of punk, while weaving Yoruba rhythms into a guitar treated as a full rhythm section: bass lines, percussive hits, and that sharp, dry groove that snaps.
Born Olufemi Sanyaolu in Nigeria, after a stint in London before exploding onto the scene in the early 90s, he has built a discography ranging from Blufunk Is a Fact to African Space Craft, Liquid Sunshine, and Black Orpheus, all marked by the same freedom of tone. That night, he also comes to defend Alive and Kicking, recorded live in Lagos at Femi Kuti's studios: a return that traverses his different eras and opens up new spaces, notably on the soul side, without relinquishing the raw energy that forms the DNA of his shows.
