On January 21, 2027, John Illsley will perform at SPOT/De Oosterpoort in Groningen with 'Playing the Classics from Dire Straits'. As a co-founder and the bassist of Dire Straits, Illsley helped imprint his stamp on that recognizable sound: tight and steady, without detours, always in the service of the song and the dynamics between guitars and rhythm. In this show he revisits that repertoire and delivers the classics with the grounded drive you would expect from him: rock with a blues edge, room for groove, and plenty of attention to the storytelling in the music.
