Info
Ax and the Hatchetmen land in Manchester for a show at Gorilla on May 11, 2027, bringing their Chicago-bred mix of indie rock, alt rock and power pop with them. Built around Axel Ellis and shaped as a tight six-piece, the band stands out for the way brass threads through their songs, opening up the arrangements beyond the usual guitar-bass-drums format. Expect punchy, straight-to-the-point choruses, jangly pop touches, and that garage-leaning energy that keeps things moving without overcomplicating them.
Since forming in 2018, they’ve steadily built momentum through EPs like Bear on the Roof and Love Songs, live releases, and the Constant Change chapter, before stepping into a bigger frame with their debut album So Much to Tell You. On stage, that catalogue really comes alive: bright hooks, tense guitars, and horn lines that hit like a second lead voice, made for a room that likes its melodies sharp and its rhythms upfront.
