Info
On January 25, 2027, Bristol Beacon hosts a double bill built on two very different ways of writing pop songs with a sharp edge.
The Jesus and Mary Chain bring the Reid brothers’ signature tension: direct melodies pushed through a haze of distortion, where noise-pop bite meets tight, almost classic songwriting. From the early shock of Psychocandy to the leaner, darker lines of Darklands and the later shifts between electric pressure and more stripped-down moments, their set promises that push-pull between sweetness and grit that helped pave the way for shoegaze without ever fully leaving punk behind.
The Psychedelic Furs come with their London post-punk roots and that instantly recognizable mix of taut guitars, bass and keys, often colored by sax, all carried by Richard Butler’s husky voice. Expect the band’s knack for dark romantic moods opening into big, melodic choruses, with a set that can move naturally from nervous new wave energy to their more open, pop-leaning side.
