The Danish folk metal scene would look different without Svartsot. Since forming in 2005, the band has helped define the genre here at home with a sound that fuses folk and medieval music with the weight and intensity of death metal. The result is an expression in which bagpipes, flutes and mandolins meet heavy guitars, growled vocals, and an uncompromising rhythmic foundation. The lyrics draw on Danish folk ballads, historical narratives, and ancient legends, which the band interprets in a contemporary and hard-hitting musical format. Over six albums, Svartsot has developed and refined their approach, most recently on Peregrinus, released to celebrate the band's 20th anniversary. The album was recorded with Tue Madsen at Antfarm Studios and marks a chapter in the band's history. Svartsot has over the years played festivals such as Wacken, Graspop, Roskilde Festival, and Copenhell, as well as touring widely across Europe. With the audience in focus, the band has built a reputation as a name that delivers high-energy, crowd-pleasing concerts without compromising the music's heft. On Friday, December 19, Svartsot will take the stage at Beta2300 for an evening of melodic folk metal, Danish storytelling, and raw energy.
Deadflesh has since 1994 cultivated the old-school approach within death metal with an uncompromising focus on heavy riffs, hard-hitting grooves, and intensity. With clear inspirations from Bolt Thrower, Obituary, Autopsy and the early Six Feet Under, the Roskilde-based band delivers a sound that draws on the genre's classic virtues without losing its own distinctive character. The guttural vocals, the massive guitars and the heavy rhythm section form the framework for songs that revolve around war, conflicts, and humanity's darker sides. On stage, Deadflesh translates this universe into a direct and energetic concert experience, where aggression and heaviness are at the center. As a support for Svartsot, Deadflesh provides an extra dose of Danish metal with roots firmly planted in the death metal tradition.
