On Tuesday 6 October 2026 in Bristol, Fanfare Ciocărlia bring their brass-band whirlwind back on stage, marking three decades of music forged in the Roma village of Zece Prăjini, in Romania’s Moldavia. Built around roaring horns and punchy percussion, their sound moves fast and never sits still: wedding tunes, Balkan dances, Romanian melodies, flashes of Turkish influence, all carried by tight counter-lines and that collective, almost orchestral way of playing.
A Fanfare Ciocărlia show is less about solos than about momentum: the whole band locking in, pushing tempos, flipping traditional themes into something you feel in your chest. Across albums like Radio Pascani, Baro Biao – World Wide Wedding, and later collaborations and face-offs such as Queens and Kings and Balkan Brass Battle, they’ve kept reshaping the repertoire without losing its raw pulse.
