Info
Swapmeet comes to Cologne on November 3, 2026, at the Yard Club and brings with it the sound that arose in small projects in Adelaide and now feels considerably bigger. The quartet around Venus O’Broin, Joshua Doherty, Maxwell Elphick, and Jack Medlyn places guitars front and center: sometimes glittering and jangly, sometimes veiled and slightly noisy, paired with driving drums and melodies that swing between shoegaze, jangle pop, and 90s alt-rock.
After early releases and the EP Oxalis, the band pushes its songs further and further: gradually built dynamics, a back-and-forth between restraint and overdrive, plus a collective band feeling in which instruments and voices aren’t rigidly distributed. Live, this translates into a direct energy that doesn’t rely on big poses yet still packs a punch. Themewise it’s about growing up, about early fractures, hesitation, and those moments when you have to veer off — wrapped in hooklines and edges that linger in the room.
