Lip Critic comes to the MTC in Cologne on October 29, 2026, bringing the nervous, fractured sound from Brooklyn's DIY scene. The quartet works with two drum kits, which live sound less like clean groove and more like pressure, friction and physical movement: hammering patterns, abruptly truncated breaks and rhythms that constantly tilt. Over them lie electronic textures, distortion and vocals that oscillate between spoken word, screams and short, punchy hooks.
Since the early EPs Kill Lip Critic and Lip Critic II, the band has sharpened their blend of post-punk, electro-punk and digital hardcore. With the debut Hex Dealer and the subsequent Theft World, there’s a set in the works that takes performance and noise as seriously as it does structural breaks. A concert for everyone who wants to hear punk not as nostalgia but as the present.
