Oren Ambarchi's new Drag City album Cooked will be released on September 25.
On Thursday, September 24, an exclusive listening session and album launch will take place at the Betonhalle in Silent Green, Berlin. The evening will also include a discussion about the background and creation of the album with Ambarchi and music critic Peter Margasak, as well as a screening of the filmmaker Maximilien Luc Proctor's piece Sleight Of Hand.
Attentive listeners who have delved into Oren Ambarchi's three-digit discography know that alongside hypnotic minimalism there are strands of unconventional and free exploration. Cooked is a turning point in Oren's work and places this distinctive approach at the core of his prominent solo releases. In the tradition of his carefully crafted studio jams, Cooked brings together collaborators from Australia, Germany, Japan, and Sweden for two side-length pieces, in which the foot remains in time while the mind is challenged.
Like 10cc in their prime, the album layers a multitude of elements through sophisticated studio work, yet remains open, spontaneous, and intuitive, defined by a versatile love of music in which anything seems possible.
