Kill Your Boyfriend is a two-piece band formed in 2011 in Venice (Italy): Matteo Scarpa on guitar/vocals and Antonio Angeli on drums (live set three musicians). The band’s sound could be defined as a loud and dark psych/post-punk/shoegaze mix, taking inspiration from bands like Suicide, Jesus and Mary Chain, Joy Division.
The band name Kill Your Boyfriend is taken from a graphic novel created by Grant Morrison and Philip Bond published by Vertigo (DC Comics). In September 2011 they self-produced their six-song EP and started playing live in clubs and festivals, but it was with their first album S/T released by Shyrec (IT) in 2013 that the band started to be recognized and played over 80 shows in Europe, especially in Germany. 2015 was the year of the split with New Candys and their second album The King Is Dead (Shyrec). In the same year the band toured, opening for bands like The KVB and Zola Jesus. From 2016 to 2018 Kill Your Boyfriend performed extensively throughout Europe and in Russia. Meanwhile the band released their second EP Ghosts (2016, Shyrec) and a 7, Ulrich (2017) with the Russian label Other Voices.
At the end of 2019 the British label Depths Records released their single Elizabeth, which includes a remix of the same song made by Preoccupations guitarist Danny Christiansen, and the band performed in the UK. The album Killadelica was released on 6 November 2020 by the labels Sister9 Recordings (UK), Little Cloud Records (US) and Shryec (ITA).
The three record labels released the 2022 album Voodoo on 7 October 2022.
Kill Your Boyfriend's last album Disco Kills was released in 2025, and after two tours in the EU they are now hitting the UK between the end of November and the first week of December 2026.
Neu Oscuro was born from a friendship created in Manchester’s underground and brings a dark sound which, as the name suggests, is both new and obscure.
Neu Oscuro was born out of friendship forged in the Manchester underground music scene, and with a range of continental influences, psych styles and dark post-punk vibes evident, the band’s sound is largely built upon the murkier side of frontman Rhys Bloodjoy’s solo work.
Together, with Le Crowley (Astral Elevator) and David Sheffield (Bones Shake) both on percussive duties, the trio reveal a bare-bones side to Bloodjoy’s already intense style of music, still utilising sophisticated loops, but with the addition of live drums and deep synth basslines.
Neu Oscuro’s Desolation EP (Sister 9) marked a step in their development.
