Info
Soyuz is a union even in its name: in the studio one composer, live a band that reinvents itself at every concert.
Born in Minsk from the meeting of Alex Chumak and Mikita Arlou, since 2022 the collective has moved to Warsaw, expanding to include Albert Karch and Igor Wiśniewski. In the recording room it is Chumak who threads together arrangements between jazz, folk and global pop; on stage that same music dissolves into improvisation.
After revisiting East European jazz-pop in their first two albums and flirting with Brazilian MPB in Force of the Wind (featuring guests such as Kate NV and Sessa), Soyuz released Krok for Mr Bongo: an intimate record, the first almost entirely in Belarusian, recorded between São Paulo, Stockholm and Warsaw.
