On February 4, 2027, Chat Pile land in Glasgow at SWG3 for a night built on friction, weight, and nerve. Formed in Oklahoma City in 2019, the four-piece plays noise rock and sludge metal with a grimy, tense edge: dissonant riffs pushed to the limit, huge rhythms that grind forward, and vocals that swing between spoken-word pressure and full-throated screams.
Their name comes from the mining waste piles of northeastern Oklahoma, and that sense of local fallout runs through their imagery and writing, with a social-realist streak that keeps things uncomfortably close to real life. After early EPs and a first wave of tracks, they stepped up with God’s Country, then kept widening the circle on both sides of the Atlantic. More recently, Cool World (2024) sharpens the same approach, letting post-punk touches creep into the noise while the metal heft stays front and center. Expect a set that doesn’t smooth anything out.
