On March 12, 2027, Alcest and Agriculture reunite in Annecy, at Le Brise-Glace, for an evening where distorted guitars pursue as much the mist as the impact. With Alcest, shoegaze rubs shoulders with post-rock and the black metal heritage, in a chiaroscuro made of airy melodies, heavy crescendos, and stark contrasts between clean vocals and distant screams. Born around Neige and having become a full-fledged duo with Winterhalter, the band has built this language across albums that range from Souvenirs d’un autre monde to Les Chants de l’aurore, continually pushing the interplay between light, melancholy, and rough edges further. Opening, Agriculture brings its ecstatic black metal, tense between violence and brighter bursts. The Los Angeles group stretches the forms, stacks up crescendos, and injects into its structures touches of post-rock, screamo, and ambient, as heard on The Circle Chant and the album Agriculture. An opening set as dense as it is physical.
