On January 12, 2027 at Paul B in Massy, Birds on a Wire will reveal what makes the duo’s strength: a voice and a cello, and an entire world opening up. Born from the meeting of Rosemary Standley (Moriarty) and Dom La Nena, the project goes against the grain of both the classical concert and pop sets, leaning into sparseness and meticulous attention to detail. Their playground is covers and reinterpretations: French songs, traditional tunes, Anglo-Saxon pop, early music… The duo moves from one language to another, from one era to the next, without bravado, simply with acoustic arrangements that let the melodies breathe and gently challenge listeners’ listening habits. After Ramages and the more recent Nuées Ardentes, Birds on a Wire continues to weave unexpected connections between repertoires, with this blend of chamber folk and song that is as much an intimate concert as a musical narrative.
