On February 2, 2027, Basement will land at the Melkweg in Amsterdam for a set where their mix of emo, grunge, and melodic hardcore truly comes into its own. The band has been crafting songs since the late 2000s that play with tension and dynamics: clean melodies that suddenly burst into heavy guitars, tempos that tilt, and a vocal line that keeps moving forward. Expect material that nods to their early records, but also the more open, alternative rock side that later came more to the fore.
Fleshwater will join as the supporting act, bringing those dense, hazy guitars where shoegaze and post-hardcore meet. From Boston, they haul 90s textures, grunge and alternative metal onto the stage, with choruses that can be as airy as the riffs are heavy. Their live reputation revolves around contrast: soft melodies that suddenly flip into direct impact. This evening is for those who like to leave the venue with muddy shoes, but with a melody in their heads.
