On March 9, 2027, Megadeth arrives at The SSE Arena Belfast for a date on their European tour “Breakout: Hibernation of the Nations.” Led since 1983 by Dave Mustaine, the band remains a pillar of US thrash metal: fast, clear riffs, sometimes twisted constructions, razor-sharp solos, and lyrics that lean toward politics, war, or collective obsessions. Black Label Society opens the evening. Founded in Los Angeles in 1998 around Zakk Wylde, the group plays heavy metal nourished by classic hard rock and southern touches, with that sense of a massive riff and mid-tempo that hits hard and lingers. Between hard tracks, darker moments, and nearly acoustical breaths, Black Label Society lays out a direct formula, driven by an omnipresent guitar and a rough yet melodic voice, as heard on Sonic Brew, The Blessed Hellride or Doom Crew Inc.
