On September 3, 2026, High On Fire arrives at Foufounes Électriques in Montreal for a show billed as dense, no-frills heavy metal. Led by Matt Pike (ex-Sleep) on guitar and vocals, the Oakland trio has since the late 1990s carved a niche at the crossroads of stoner, sludge, doom and thrash, with a penchant for riffs that hammer away and for sharp accelerations.
On stage, their strength lies in impact: a massive sound, a rhythm section that tightens the tempo, and songs built to hit as hard as they carry you. From early records such as The Art of Self Defense and Surrounded by Thieves to the sharper phases of Death Is This Communion, Electric Messiah or Cometh the Storm, High On Fire remains faithful to a direct, taut writing, defined by tension, heaviness and momentum.
