Birds on a Wire is the meeting between Rosemary Standley’s voice (also known from Moriarty) and Dom La Nena’s cello. Together, they build a repertoire balanced between chamber folk, chanson, and pop, with their own distinctive way of taking on and reinterpreting songs: few effects, a lot of space, and this constant dialogue between voice and strings. The duo traverses languages, eras, and musical origins, from baroque to traditional airs, including French chanson and Anglo-Saxon standards, always brought back to the essentials.
After Ramages (2020), Birds on a Wire continued this work with Nuées Ardentes (2025), an album centered on adolescence, where echoes of Bronski Beat, The Cure, The Doors, Barbara, and Stefano Landi intersect, with the participation of the Maîtrise de Radio France. On 9 April 2027, at Château Rouge in Annemasse, they will take the stage to defend this singular territory, at the border between concert and theatre, where the acoustic arrangement becomes a true language.
