Slow Pulp arrive at Gorilla, in Manchester, on February 2, 2027, with that signature blend: indie rock with mellow guitars, lo-fi pop, and small forays into folk and alt-country. Born in Madison before settling in Chicago, the quartet brings together Emily Massey, Alex Leeds, Teddy Mathews, and Henry Stoehr around straightforward, often melancholic songwriting, carried by clear melodies and an energy that doesn’t seek to show off.
From its early EPs to Big Day, the band has honed a sound that is at once intimate and tense. Moveys (2020) established this more introspective vibe, without losing the knack for catchy choruses, before Deleted Scenes (2021) and Yard (2023) on Anti-. In concert, Slow Pulp plays with balance: a fragility embraced in the vocals and textures, a solid rhythm section, and arrangements that preserve a bedroom-pop patina while gaining in precision.
