Slow Pulp is the story of a quartet bound by a long-standing friendship, formed in Madison, Wisconsin, in the mid-2010s around Emily Massey (vocals, guitar), Henry Stoehr (guitar), Alex Leeds (bass) and Teddy Mathews (drums). Nourished by 90s alt-rock and 2000s indie, they craft a distinctly American indie rock, melodic and tense, able to shift from a bright power-pop chorus to more acoustic, emotionally raw moments. Based in Chicago since 2018, they have continued to refine this blend of agile guitars, direct songwriting, and restrained lo-fi energy. On January 21, 2027, Slow Pulp will perform at the Columbia Theater in Berlin, with a focus on the tracks from Melodie, their third album announced for September 18, and in this distinctly theirs way of starting over from scratch by turning memories, relationships and breakups into immediate songs, balancing compact energy with acknowledged melancholy.
