On the eve of his fiftieth birthday, Florent Marchet releases his seventh album Mobil Home. A glimmer runs through it, carried by the rhythmic momentum and by the conviction that it remains possible to laugh and love in a world that is unsteady. For twenty-five years, Florent Marchet has built a body of work attentive to those who are heard little. More a storyteller than a singer, he asserts the desire to give voice to the supporting figures of the collective narrative. With Mobil Home, conceived between Tunis, Paris and Brussels, Florent Marchet affirms an artistic freedom that is continually decentralised.
At the crossroads of song and social narrative, he continues a body of work nourished by numerous collaborations and stage experiences. If Mobil Home traverses contemporary themes — social exclusion, downward mobility, masculinities, anxious adolescence, the threat of collapse — the album avoids the monotone gray and hints at a light.
