The Datsuns

The Datsuns are a band from Cambridge, New Zealand. The group established itself at the turn of the 2000s on the international garage rock wave by blending classic hard rock, punk energy, and a seventies heritage. The quartet led by bassist and vocalist Dolf de Borst first drew notice on the local scene before spending part of its time in the United Kingdom, where The Datsuns racks up clubs, tours and festivals in a revived indie rock circuit.

The self-titled debut album "The Datsuns" appeared in 2002, followed by "Outta Sight / Outta Mind" in 2004, produced with John Paul Jones, then "Smoke & Mirrors" in 2006, "Headstunts" in 2008, "Death Rattle Boogie" in 2012, "Deep Sleep" in 2014 and "Eye to Eye" in 2021. These albums mark the different stages of a discography tied to the classic formats of rock. Musically, The Datsuns rely on highly prominent twin guitars, fast riffs, direct rhythms and a high-pitched vocal that recalls as much 70s hard rock as contemporary garage, with songwriting focused on the efficiency of songs and their live impact.
