On 10 April 2027, Kim Wilde will perform at Metropool in Enschede. The British singer broke through in the early 1980s with a tight mix of new wave and synth-pop, built on angular keyboards, light guitars, and choruses that linger instantly. Together with her brother Ricky Wilde, who co-wrote and produced, she established a recognizable sound from her debut 'Kim Wilde' (1981), followed by albums such as 'Select' and 'Catch as Catch Can'. In the second half of the decade she shifted toward a more pop-rock- and radio-oriented approach on albums such as 'Another Step' and 'Close', without losing her direct melodies. After a hiatus in the 1990s she returned with new material and reinterpretations, from 'Never Say Never' to 'Here Come the Aliens', where that 80s signature still shines through. Live, Kim Wilde continues to lean on her catalog and on a band sound that is both tight and playful, with room for the familiar hooks and the stronger edges.
